Overview

This highly interactive and practical course is designed to provide delegates with a sound knowledge of all elements involved in implementing an Environmental Management System (EMS), in order to:

  • Understand the implications and benefits of an EMS to business
  • Begin implementing an EMS based on ISO 14001
  • Apply and integrate ISO 14001 into existing management systems

Our course will acquaint delegates with the requirements and principles of ISO 14001 and Eco-Management and Audit Regulation (EMAR), providing delegates with the skills to plan, implement and formalize an EMS.

Defining the purpose and structure of the EMS Standards ISO 14001, Eco-Management and Audit Regulation (EMAR)

  • Review of environmental legislation and codes of practice and defining an environmental policy
  • Identification of environmental aspects and impacts, risk evaluation
  • Planning the EMS implementation programme:
    • Timescales and resources
    • Gaining management commitment
    • Environmental performance measures
    • Establishing policy and setting objectives and targets
    • Documentation, monitoring and auditing for improvement
  • Accreditation and certification activities
  • Sources of information and further development
